With many cleaning companies still struggling to free themselves from the grips of recession this huge price hike must seem like a slap in the face from Britain’s best known brand.
Diversey have a reputation for high quality products and have a very loyal following amongst many UK cleaning companies, but this loyalty will surely be put to the test with levels of increase that seem totally out of step with the rest of the industry.
Most contractors I speak to are still being asked by clients to save money, a very difficult task made more difficult by above inflation increases in material costs. The well touted line of saving money by using concentrates is all well and good but these assumed savings have already been factored in to budgets leaving the contractor in a very difficult situation.
We all know the reasons put forward for the latest round of price increases, rising oil prices, weak pound, earth quakes and the emergence of a strong Chinese economy. Any right minded persons will see that some prices will inevitably have to increase, however this appears to be totally out of step with the rest of the industry.
I’d appreciate some feedback on this; will you look to pass this on to your clients? Will you absorb the increased costs? When was the last time you increased your customer’s prices twice in 6months?
Am I a lone voice here or has the time has come to say, no this is simply not acceptable?
